In Brandvlei, 59 people participated in this study. They had parents and grandparents who were also from Brandvlei. Their genetic ancestry results can be representative of all the people of Brandvlei.
The average person in Brandvlei has ancestry from 4-5 groups. Most of their ancestors, that is 60%, come from a Khoe-San group. 20% of their ancestors are European, 15% are from West Africa, and 5% are from South Asia.
This is the same things as having parents a dad who is 40% European, 40% Khoe-San, and 20% West African and a mother who is 80% Khoe-san, 10% South Asian, and 10% West African/Bantu
